Many people may be surprised to find out that Kiefer Sutherland is not only an actor, but a mighty fine musician as well. This past Tuesday night, he rolled into the Bluebird theatre in Denver to a very well stocked crowd. The night was a windy one on the streets. Roads all around the area were closed due to the huge trees on Capitol Hill being blown down by the wind and into traffic. Inside the venue however was a much calmer atmosphere. Upon taking the stage, Kiefer thanked the crowd for coming out to hear 12 songs they probably never heard before. Most of those being from his one and only album “Down in a Hole” which came out in 2016.
Kiefer seemed sincerely grateful as he interacted with his audience, becoming very animated on stage when he would begin to tell a story. Wearing his wide brimmed hat, he began to tell us about a horse named Reckless whom happened to be Kiefer’s very own roping horse when he was on the rodeo circuit. Immediately breaking into the first notes of the appropriately titled song, “Reckless”. This would be the only song he would play that wasn’t listed on his CD, perhaps he should do a re-release because I have a feeling there will be plenty of people here tonight that would like to have a copy of that one for sure!
On stage performing, you could see Kiefer’s flair for being dramatic but what we saw tonight was a huge difference from the character we are used to seeing him play in ‘Designated Survivor’ lol. Just when you feel you know everything there is to know about your favorite superstar, they just come out with new ways to make you say hmmmmm. Kiefer’s talent has no limits. I am looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this amazing artist.
