Grayling Purnell Couture Fashion Week New York

Fashion has a way of pushing the envelope and the images on the runway at NYFW were no exception. It was two short seasons ago that “free the nipple” was just starting to get exposed. With each fashion season that passes, the campaign of gender equality, feminism and liberation gets stronger and stronger.

Xposer Magazine was ecstatic to see the movement continue in a major way this NYFW. Grayling Purnell is part of a new wave of American designers proving the country’s fashion isn’t limited to floaty dresses and swimwear. Professionally trained in both Menswear and Womenwear, he is based out of New York City and Los Angeles.  Launching his signature line in 2015, he has become known for his stunning evening gowns.

The collection featured on the runways of New York notably has a message. Embracing women not only through the beauty of the magnificent silhouettes…he also designed to openly and confidently “free the nipple”.

Peeking through luxurious fabrics, the shock factor for some of seeing the nipple are suddenly softened.  My favorite piece is the black magic piece with broad shoulders. This piece keeps the eye wandering on and around all the most beautiful parts of a woman’s body whilst “keeping it classy”.
