Photos: Red Carpet Denver Film Festival Part 5

Tonight’s Red Carpet was labeled ‘The Big Night’ and for very good reasons. Showcasing an all-star cast, the movie in focus for the evening was “Molly’s Game”.  This drama is based on the true story of Molly Bloom, a Colorado-bred Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game for a decade before being arrested in the middle of the night by 17 FBI agents.

Molly Bloom

Written and directed by the inimitable Aaron Sorkin, Jessica Chastain stars as Bloom, whose dreams of an athletic career was cut short by a back injury. So she took another route to glory, as a gambling impresario, catering to Hollywood royalty, sports stars, business titans and finally, unbeknownst to her, members of the Russian mob. When glory turned to ignominy, she found an ally in criminal-defense lawyer, Charlie Jaffey—played by the ever-watchable Idris Elba—who learned that there was much more to Molly than the tabloids led us to believe. A very interesting story to watch unfold. Intense all around and I enjoyed it fully.

This movie was co presented by Wish of a Lifetime whose mission is to preserve the wisdom and accomplishments of seniors by fulfilling their life-enriching wishes. In person were the founder Jeremy Bloom with guest Donna Wheeler.
