Lidia Gonzalez moved to the United States from Mexico City at the tender young age of 6. Her family decided to make the move to America after suffering countless disasters that plagued her homeland. Starting over was not an easy thing to do. With English being a second language to her, she found herself struggling to make friends not knowing how to speak it fluently just yet. Something Lidia always held strong to was her sense of fashion. Having something to focus on reduced her stress over fitting in and making new friends. Fashion was more than just a hobby to Lidia, it was a lifestyle that captured her passion and creativity. “From a young age I was interested in fashion, after coming to America at the age of 5. I played with my dolls all the time when I was younger. I started working with a national magazine and it increased my interest in having my own company.” Lidia continued with her education and chose the world of esthetics in order to help those close to her feel better about themselves by transforming them for special events and such. Throughout all of this, Lidia realized where her heart lied, and that was with design and fashion. All of this lead her to create one of the most talked about fashion shows in New Mexico – Fashion Pashionista

Xposer Magazine had a chance to sit and talk with Lidia all about how Fashion Pashionista came to be and why she chose to venture down this path. Both Lidia and Co-founder Catherine Trujillo are both survivors of domestic violence and wanted to have the opportunity to help other survivors as much as they could.

“I created BBLEX productions and fashion pashionista came along from my want to help people that have survived domestic violence. This event provides an opportunity for many people to get together from all lifestyles to network together. Fashion Pashionista travels to different states in order to raise awareness of domestic violence survivors. The show is a magical evening of poetry, the phoenix is represented by a dancer creating the scene. The phoenix is there to symbolize the rising from the pain and hurt, beautiful and elegant.”

Lidia says that none of the shows will ever be the same, full of entertainment, each of the shows are unique in their own way. Be sure to expect the unexpected.

The overall goal of this show is to hopefully inspire others to break their silence or to understand that they are worth so much more. No one should have to suffer at the hands of another person, especially one that claims to love you. Rise above like the phoenix you are and enjoy the amazing life that you have been given. That person does not define who you are.
