It is always about “the movement” on the runway during Fashion Week. When I say movement, I mean movement of the fabric on the gowns. When I say movement, I mean movement of the latest social campaign. When I say movement, I mean movement of the models (or shall I say dancers) selling a dream as they make their way down the catwalk.
New York Fashion Week was full of dance this last season. A multitude of designers traded in the tall, thin and stiff walking runway model for dancers of all sorts. This brought a new and exciting element to shows across the city.
Adrian Alicea was one of the many designers who successfully tied modern dance into his runway performance. He not only presented a multitude of looks, he also successfully freed the nipple. His collection spanned from women’s ready to wear to menswear. He even sprinkled an underwear collection in the mix.
His butterfly prints made my heart flutter and his men’s suits especially caught my bespoke trained eye. The men’s suits are fun, flirty and more unique than anything that is necessarily readily available. My favorite look was the contrasting men’s floral print suit. It was enough to make me just want to light up a cigar and dress like a man for a night. Wink. Wink.
