Fierce In The City 2

fierce-in-the-city2-238[blockquote author=”Masha P”]“Nothing says FIERCE better than gemstones, fur, fashion and runway, and that’s exactly what took place at the Fierce In The City 2 ” gushed local model Masha P who has graced the runway for multiple Denver designers over the years.[/blockquote]

Once again, fashion and philanthropy met on the runway at the View House on a chilly Sunday evening in the Mile High City. Fashion Forward and Denver Xposer Magazine were in the house to capture what was yet to be an entertaining evening. Simply put, Fierce in the City II, was FIERCE.

As the sun began to set, the fierceness began to come alive as the show began with a rather unexpected performance. First up on the runway was ANDREA LI, presenting her rather beautiful minimalistic jewelry, complete with gold & clear white stones. The designs in some of the pieces resembled icicles in the shape of a necklace. Andrea’s designs were perfect for the minimalistic woman! Next up was the beautiful & fabulous Zofia Wosinska of ÉSTAINE. “ÉSTAINE designs unique, luxurious accessories and apparel inspired by the hauntingly beautiful shapes, colors and patterns of the dyes used in cancer diagnosis.” Her scarves, pocket squares and ties were hauntingly beautiful, especially as the models made their way down the runway with their intrinsic scarves. Devan Blake Jones, American Idol Finalist, set the pace of the runway while singing in the background. Following Éstaine, we had American Idol Finalist Vincent Powell singing his heart out as he opened for the next designer. Let’s just say the entertainment at Fierce in the City II was LIVE! Next on the runway we had the amazing furs from ANDREAS TSAGAS, the furs were Oh so furry and Oh so NEW YORK, and the models working the FUR made the designs look timeless! The music was becoming even more upbeat as Vincent continued to grace us with his amazing voice. Guests were dancing in their seats and feeling the rhythm and enjoying the amazing designs.

Last, but certainly not least, we had the fierce designs of Salwa Owens, designer and producer of the event. For her first collection, she presented the SO edit for the everyday woman. Her collection was designed to inspire women, as well as to have them dressed for “working out” to “going out”, and everything in between. Her fall/winter RTW collection had varied designs for a day in the office or a night out in town. The collection was definitely made with women in mind, fierce women.

The time passed as we were approaching Salwa Owens’ grand finale, only before taking a quick dance break! As Vincent Powell came out to hype the crowd, we all got our boogie on to his cover of “Uptown Funk.”  The crowd got up out from their seats and DANCED! (my favorite part of the show)!

The grand finale consisted of Salwa Owens, Gold Collection complete with evening wear! The pieces started simplistic and became more grandiose as the runway ended. The designs consisted of nodes of silver, black, red, blue, teal and gold. The end of the runway was astonishing as the models made their way down with hand beaded designs and beautifully mounted headpieces. The crowd just loved it!

Overall, Fierce in the City II lived up to its name. The show was fierce! From all the designers to the musical performances, it was definitely a head nodding, feet groovin’, entertaining fashion show! Salwa Owens, your fierce mission to “Empower women through the joy of fashion” is coming to life!

Proceeds from this event are being donated to Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, inspiring all girls to be Strong, Smart and Bold.
