This past Wednesday evening, supporting their recently released second album, MMXX, Sons Of Apollo wasted no time firing up the crowd at the Oriental Theater, starting their set with, ‘Goodbye Divinity’ and followed right after that with, ‘Fall to Ascend’, both from their new album. The energy level was rising fast and it would not slow down for the rest of the night. The musicians on stage composed of drummer Mike Portnoy, bassist Billy Sheehan, keyboardist Derek Sherinian, vocalist Jeff Scott Soto, and guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, all together they brought decades of experience for everyone to witness.
During their song ‘Wither to Black’, the band broke into “Tom Sawyer”, a tribute to the recent passing of Neil Peart and the crowd went crazy in appreciation for such a gesture. Throughout the evening, Sons Of Apollo moved back and forth through their music from their three albums, with each musician mesmerizing the high energy crowd with their performance. Finishing off their evening, SOA turn to a song off their first album, Psychotic Symphony, ‘Coming Home’, and with that, a very energy-filled evening came to end.
It was such a pleasure to enjoy this high energy show, one that I highly recommend seeing.
As always, stay tuned to Xposer Magazine, where you go to be scene!
